A path forward

Yesterday I flew from London to Denver, Colorado, to get Evusheld, the treatment I need to give me some protection against Covid-19. This treatment is not a silver bullet, and like all COVID treatments, its effectiveness is not 100% nor will it last forever. But it provides a layer of protection I don’t have today, and gives me a path forward. I wish everyone in my position had this same possibility. Continue reading A path forward

First Lupus Drug in 50 Years Approved by FDA

For those of us who suffer from System Lupus Erythematosus, there is some encouraging news. According to Scientific American,  yesterday the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Benlysta (belimumab) for the treatment of the disease. Lupus is a mysterious disease in which the immune system attacks healthy tissues. Nearly all lupus patients experience some degree of joint pain, and some will face life-threatening complications including kidney failure, heart problems and difficulty in breathing.
